Water Features Loved by Ratepayers and Wildlife Alike
We consider water features a vital part of supporting wildlife, particularly birds, combat the Urban Heat Island Effect of inner cities.
The added bonus is they can provide visual and audible enrichment for ratepayers, making the Garden a more enjoyable environment.
Practicality is Key For Consistent Support
Whilst traditional Bird Baths have their place in small back-gardens, they typically run dry within a day, as a single bird can displace most of the water.
Most Garden Squares simply don’t have the staff or volunteers to maintain a shallow bowl bird bath, so they sit empty, and algae covered. They therefore do little-to-nothing to support wildlife.
In contrast our water features can store 10s-100s of litres of water, requiring far less frequent top-ups, and improving water quality.
All That's Required is Power
Whilst our team is adept at running both power cables and water pipes, only the former is required for a water feature.
Such features rely on a buried or hidden reservoir, into which a small 12v pump is submerged. The reservoir can be topped up periodically via a hose (or even through an extension to an irrigation system).
The larger the reservoir the less often it is likely to need to be refilled.
Fountains that Interact with Nature
Instead of ornate fountains, we encourage fountains that cater for birds with shallow bowls they can bath in.
Whilst they may sound less exciting, all it takes is a bird to land on the fountain and rustle around furiously in the water to create a wonderful spectacle and focal point within the garden.
