Security Camera Systems Targeted for Garden Squares

GardenSqua.re have helped many squares in London install or upgrade CCTV Systems to help combat challenges like Trespass, Criminal Damage and Poor Rule Adherence.

As a specialist provider to Garden Squares and London’s Green Spaces, there are several factors that set us apart:

  • Solutions Built to Last: we battle against everything from gardeners’ spades and the elements, to boisterous young foxes; we know how to install systems that survive everything an outdoor environment may throw at them.
  • Technology Agnostic: Whilst we are a licensed installer of professional-grade camera systems, we appreciate that might not be proportional or within the budget of some clients. We will always consider the client’s budget and specify the optimum solution for them, even if it is as simple as a 4G camera powered by a nearby electrical point.
  • Tree Smart: Unbeknownst to most Security Camera contractors, the installation of cameras in gardens is actually covered by Tree Protection regulations, BS5837. specifically that no camera’s positioning should mandate the subsequent pruning of surrounding trees. We use tree-safe flexible-mounting options to satisfy BS5837, the tree is not harmed, and cameras can be repositioned when blocked by nearby foliage growth.
  • Nimble solutions to complex challenges: Issues like gaining a suitable physical internet connection in a Garden Square (which doesn’t have the prerequisite postcode) can stump some providers. We know how to work in such restrictive environments, and specify systems that can be accessed remotely with ease, even from a 5G internet connection with a variable IP address.

Leveraging AI to Ease Enforcement

One of the challenges with administering a large camera system is finding footage of the specific activity you are trying to identify. Traditionally that meant scrolling through hours and hours of footage at a high playback speed to until you spotted something.

For the last 5-7 years it has been possible to filter footage for simplistic, pre-set events like “people”, “animal” and “vehicle” – however such features were often error prone (e.g. detecting moving branches as people / animals), and too vague to significantly expedite footage identification.

In 2026, camera manufacturers (especially of professional-grade-equipment) are integrating AI Video Search, allowing the system administrator to state the specific type of activity they are trying to identify, and allowing the system of retrieve events it believes match the description.

GardenSqua.re were one of the first companies to install one such line of Cameras – Reolink’s ReoNeura-enabled professional range – in a site in the UK, and continue to trial, test, and qualify-to install the latest systems to empower Garden Committees across London to take action on undesirable behaviours from trespass to flytipping.

Adapting to Existing Infrastructure

We are increasingly asked to upgrade Camera systems installed in the last 10 years in Garden Squares, that have failed to deliver any real value to Garden Committees. They find previous systems have been unreliable (frequently failed), have been too difficult to use (needing to stand in a shed to review footage), and expensive to maintain (especially those with a fixed IP-address requirement).

Thankfully for the last 10 years it has been common for even old analogue cameras to be installed on the data cables we use to support the most modern IP (digital) cameras.

We can happily adapt old infrastructure where our testing suggests Data Cables are in tact, replacing unsatisfactory legacy system with convenient, high definition cameras, with easier access and great record retention.

Even where cables are partially damaged, we can frequently find solutions to avoid a costly rewire.

Staying Compliant

When installing new systems, we provide clients GDPR Compliant Signagage, along with boilerplate Data Controller and Data Processor Policies to govern the continued use of the system inline with ICO expectations.

We advise on basic steps we and our clients can take to reassure residents/neighbours that their privacy is being respected.
