Festive Light Trends

In this post we review some of the latest trends you might wish to leverage in your Garden’s Festive Light Display. If we can be of any assistance, do get in touch.

The Future: Individually Addressable LEDS

One of the big leaps forward in Festive Lighting in recent years has been the introduction of Individually Addressable LEDS. In short, a string of lights where each individual light can be controlled (colour, on/off, brightness).

As the prior videos show, our friends across thepond have readily jumped on this trend to createflamboyant light shows,
the same technology can be used to create gentle/tasteful effects, such as a cool white twinkle running across a string of warm white lights.

The two main players in this market are Govee (first video) and Twinkly (second video).

Still on the Rise: Flagpole Tree Lights

Many Gardens lack a Central Tree suitable for a Festive Lights display, which makes Flagpole Tree lights all the more suitable.

With these systems, a plastic pipe is buried into the lawn/path, and come the Winter, a lightweight Aluminium Flagpole (that typically comes in slotted 1-1.5m sections) can be erected, from which a light tree is suspended.

In the UK Market the two main players are (again) Twinkly, who provide Flagpole Trees with Individually Addressable LEDS (following video),and Fairybell, who provide Warm White LED Christmas Trees, typically with a denser light pattern (video after that).

Going Down a Treat: Meteor Lights

As deployed successfully in the Gloucester Square Garden, meteor lights are a set of plastic tubes, filled with LEDs which cascade in downward loops to give an impression of falling snow.

One of the key benefits of Meteor Lights is how easy they are to put up and take down, typically only requiring a few minutes per tree to attach.

Not Sure Where We Stand: LED Figures

Whilst not to every resident’s liking, and a pain tostore between festive seasons, Large LEDCharacters can provide a spirit uplifting focal pointto your festive lights display. There are lots ofproviders around, though one of our favouriteplaces for large light figures is Costco, who stock:

  • A 6ft Set of Reindeer

  • A 6ft Santa
  • A 5 Ft Sled
  • An 8ft Bear
  • An 8ft Snowman
  • A 3 Piece Outdoor Train Set
