Latest Access Control Technology

In this post we look at some of the features offered by the type of Modern Access Control solutions installed by our partners. If you want to see how such a system may work for your Garden, please do get in touch.

Telephone Access

Modern Access Control systems can allow you to open Garden Gates remotely, either through use of an App on a mobile phone, or calling a dedicated number linked to the Gate, that authenticates the incoming telephone number.

This access can be granted on a temporary or permanent basis. Where temporary contractors need to perform works in the Garden, their telephone number can be permissioned for a fixed period. Garden managers and long-term contractors can permission themselves permanently, so they can provide access to the Garden without physically being onsite.

Telephone Access also allows Garden Committees to issue virtual, second fobs to Garden Committee members, so that they can quickly access the Garden when needed, without needing to collect a fob from their household.

Cloud Management / Access Logs

The more modern access control systems our Partners install include online Cloud Portals, where administrators can permission and disable fobs, check access logs, and issue temporary passes, all without leaving their desk.

If there is a report of a behavioural incident in the Garden, the manager can check access logs within minutes to see who might have been responsible-for or witnessed said incident.

The Cloud Portals cut reliance on Access Control Contractors, and place the power in your hands, saving you time and money in the long run.

Clone Prevention Technology

An additional benefit of the enhanced connectivity of Modern Access Control systems, is that Access Points can record access activity to a central database. This can be combined with smart fobs, that retain their own access log of when they were used, on which gate.

When a user attempts to clone the fob, they second they use both fobs (the original and the clone), the access logs between fobs will differ, both from each other, and the central database – allowing for both fobs to be automatically disabled.

Adaptable Access Profiles

A final benefit of more Modern Access Control systems is the ability to quickly set and modify specific Access Control Profiles.

Say your Garden agrees to permission nearby School or Nursery to use the Garden, but only on specific mornings / afternoons. Using one of our partner’s system, the fob or telephone access issued to that school / nursery can be set to only work during certain times.

Other use cases include allowing Compassionate Access, say a family have agreed to scatter the ashes of a loved one in the Garden, and wish to be permitted access to pay their respect despite not otherwise qualifying for a key. Specific Access profiles can be established to allow that family a set number of visitations a year, and only on specific times / days.
