Our team have a fleet of imported Thinline Trenching spades made of Boron Steel, that work by being driven into the ground then wiggled to create a thin trench, just wide enough to run cables or small pipes. The Trench can then be closed simply by stepping on either side of the ground.
A Faster Method of Hand Digging (BS5837 Approved)
Whilst we will typically try and avoid trenching within a Tree’s Root Protection Area, Thinline Trenching is a hand-digging method and therefore permissible in the Precautionary Zone of a Tree’s Root Protection Area under BS5837.
The Trenching Spades will not cut through any significant tree roots, and therefore protect the health of surround trees. When such obstacles are encountered we use a narrow spade to excavate the surrounding soil before threading cables/small pipes around the obstruction.
Reinstatement is Instant
Because the created trench is so thin, and no grass or soil is displaced, the trench can be closed instantly simply by gently stepping directly either side of the trench.
For the same reason, the Trench presents no fall/trip hazards to residents of the Garden.
After closing a thin line will be visible until the next rainfall/watering, after which there will be no sign of work.
